Another variation of floral prints is ghostly pastels, printed on light chiffons for an overtly delicate and feminine look. This will impact the event wear market next summer too, as we move towards a softer silhouette, so get ahead of a trend and buy a beautiful blouse now.

Emerald has been a key colour, and will remain so for at least the next two seasons. Adopt this hue in a print with a rainforest vibe. Once again big, and placement motifs are the newest variations. Look to buy prints that have a hint of black within them to help coordinate your outfit.

Left: Accessorize Scenic Print T-Shirt $62 // Proenza Schouler PS11 Continental Wallet $750 // Juicy Couture Sunset Palms iPhone 5 Case $26.71 // Middle: Mary Katrantzou Jersey Dress in Woodstock Sunset $1030 // Right: Victoria, Victoria Beckham Printed Satin Shift Dress $330 // Samudra Sunset Beach Pouch $70.85

A less obvious trend but one which can be a good investment is the digital scenic look. Shown as solitary dresses, look for moody photo landscapes or forestry motifs on simple shift shapes.

Left: Just Cavalli Python-print Georgette Top $252.91 // Joan & David Kadison Sandal $103.55 // Middle: Robbi & Nikki Snakeprint Beaded V-Neck Top $117.22 // Hugssy Faux Snake Alligator Clutch $66 // Right: Yigal Arouzel Reptile Jacquard Dress Was $1480 Now $590 // Adia Kibur Reptile Cuff Bracelet $51.24

Every season one animal skin is more on trend than another. This summer it’s about the Snake. Have fun with your style choice, as the best designs are those not grounded within reality for palette or scale. Gucci offered reptile with pops of muted neon.

GLOBAL = worldwide cultural inspiration blended for standout colour combinations

Scarf & Tile

scarf and tile

Left: Warehouse Mosaic Tile Print Blouse Was $85 Now $51 // River Island Tile Print Jogger Trousers $51 // Coach Poppy Floral Tote $195 // Middle: Coral St. Tropez Chandelier Earrings $33 // Dorothy Perkins Orange Tile Print Tunic $54 // Right: Ann Taylor Petite Bordered Lace Print Shell $76 // Jigsaw Tile Print Scarf $66

To make the look relevant for this summer, the motifs have been repositioned away from the hemline and scales have been altered. This look is freshest when worn in a head to toe manner, so mix a large border scarf with a smaller scale tile print in a complimentary colour palette. Think exotic Moroccan Kasbahs, and look for prints with Indigo within them.

Urban camouflage

Left: DKNY Animal Print Silk Shirt $380 // Top Shop Moto Joni Jeans $60.36 // Middle: Whistles Adelise Paloma Camoflage Dress $260 // Rabeanco Camilla Bag $280 // Right: DKNY Riley Camo-Print Dress Was $605 Now $180 // Zara Strappy Wedge Sandal $33

Winter trends focused on military designs in khaki palettes, but summers take is more playful, and the traditional camouflage emblems have morphed into a puzzle like effect, with a flash of standout colour.

Left: Hive & Honey Chevron Drop Earrings Was $20 Now $15 // Forever New Alizia Mirror Print Dress $80 // Sunhara Infinity Bangle $105 // Pella Moda Kacey Evening Sandal $186.1o // Middle: Oasis Mirror Shift Dress $32 // River Island Multi Stud & Skull Cross Body Bag // McQ Alexander McQueen Kaleidoscope Scarf $290 // Right: Oasis Scroll Print Dress $59 // H&M 20 Pack Bracelet $6.75

We’ve seen digital mirror prints in the youth market in winter, so for summer these become more wearable with a tribal approach. Imagery is scaled down, palettes remain strong but the overall statement is less aggressive. Also look out for interpretations with a renaissance essence, as seen at Dolce & Gabanna.

So, go on be brave – step out of your comfort zone and buy into prints this summer. Across the thirteen trends there are some easier ones to adopt quickly and easily with just an accessory which can add a new dimension to your wardrobe, but nothing garners as many compliments as a standout printed dress! Happy Shopping!
