HOW TO create mental white space ☕️ How often HOW TO create mental white space ☕️

How often do you take a moment to pause in your day? To have a brief break from work or commitments?

If you’re a serial multitasker like we are, then the thought of stopping can sound like wasted time. But it’s so important to create what we call mental white space, giving the brain some breathing room – away from worries, big emotions and rushing thoughts – to arrive at a place where solutions, clarity and ideas can then arise. To focus on ‘being’ rather than ‘doing’.

Here is an exercise from the pages of the Thrive Mind Designer...
*Grab your journal and schedule the following exercises into your week ahead. Aim to have at least one period of mental white space scheduled every day.

1. Start practicing 3 minutes of deep breathing or meditation daily. Set a timer and focus just on your breathing. 🧘‍♀️ 

2. Do an activity mindfully – walking, eating, even washing the dishes – focus on exactly what you are doing, the movements of your limbs, details of the moment. ✍️

3. Explore what other forms of ‘mental white space’ work for you. E.g. running, watching a sunset, etc. 🌅
